Over the last decade, web casual gaming has evolved from just a fun feature on some websites to a mature industry. Growth has even accelerated in economic downturn, outperforming autonomic Internet growth. Online casual gaming addresses a wide audience, including young girls and older female segments. Currently, more people play games online than all console gamers combined.
In the mobile games world, focus has been on premium downloads from Mobile Network Operators and iPhone Apps almost exclusively. Mobile casual gaming from a browser however, is still a largely untapped market. This is about to change. Much better handsets, high-speed mobile Internet availability practically everywhere and greatly improved mobile browsers pave the way for mobile web gaming as well.
The team
BoosterMedia was officially founded in October 2009. The Founders and Management of BoosterMedia bring in more than thirty years of experience in initiating and developing mobile entertainment initiatives.
Laurens Rutten, CEO
As founder and CEO of BoosterMedia, Laurens is responsible for the day to day management of the team, strategy and investor relations. He holds a Master’s degree in Communication Science from the University of Amsterdam. Laurens started his career within the international media industry and has set-up and grown mobile ventures for the last 10 years now.
Peter Moelker, Head of Content
Peter heads up the team that is building and managing our network of mobile portals. Additionally, he oversees BoosterMedia’s in-house mobile Game Studio. Peter has seven years of experience in developing mobile entertainment services.
Jorgo Smaal, Head of Traffic & Advertising
Jorgo is responsible for traffic, advertising and monetization of the BoosterMedia network of mobile portals. He advises both national and international advertising clients with setting up successful campaigns. Jorgo has a previous career in mobile internet services for many years.
Mark Beek, Head of Sales
Mark leads the BoosterMedia Sales team. He manages both BoosterMedia’s advertiser as well as online gaming partner accounts. Mark has a long time career in senior sales positions and has previously worked for a Mobile Internet service provider.
Jop Pollmann, Chairman
Jop holds a Bachelor’s degree in Modern Japanese as well as a Master’s in Law. After a career as lawyer in M&A at Trenite Van Doorne, Jop worked in various roles at VNU Marketing Information Europe and DoubleClick (in the UK, Germany, Poland) and as Commercial Director at ANP, the Dutch Press Agency.
